SDI Signal Standard
SDI is one kind of the digital video signal which is used widely in broadcast TV transmission because of it stability and easy installation. There are many device like SDI Camera, SDI fiber optic extender, SDI matrix swicher, SDI multiviewer and so on. But some customers always only say we are looking for SDI device to supplier. Then the professional supplier should confirm what type of SDI it is since SDI signal including 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI in common use. We need to clear what you need to avoid any inconvenience in your video transmission system. If your SDI resource is 12G-SDI, then you could not use 3G-SDI device. But you could use 12G-SDI , if your SDI resource is 3G-SDI, since it is compatible with lower bandwidth signal.
The following is the SDI standard you may be interested in. Different SDI signal has difference SMPTE standard, different video resolutions and different bandwidth. So next time, tell your supplier the exact SDI signal you want to use.
SMPTE 259M: it is SD-SDI, bandwidth is 270Mbit/s, 360Mbit/s, 143Mbit/s, 177Mbit/s. Resolution is 480I, 576I.
SMPTE 344M: it is ED-SDI, bandwidth is 540Mbit/s. Resolution is 480P, 576P.
SMPTE 292M: it is HD-SDI, bandwidth is 1.485Gbit/s. Resolution is 720P, 1080I.
SMPTE 372M: it is Dual Link HD-SDI, bandwidth is 2.97Gbit/s. Resolution is 1080P60.
SMPTE 424M: it is 3G-SDI, bandwidth is 2.97Gbit/s. Resolution is 1080P60.
SMPTE ST2081: it is 6G-SDI, bandwidth is 6Gbit/s. Resolution is 2160P30.
SMPTE ST2082: it is 12G-SDI, bandwidth is 12Gbit/s. Resolution is 2160P60.
