SDI Over IP Related Standards and Technology
1. IP Based Background of Television Center Infrastructure
With the development of business, new media and high-definition network broadcasting, the technical framework based on traditional SDI Video Interface and SDI Digital Video Matrix in radio and television center from program production and broadcasting to program transmission has been difficult to meet the development needs of future technology and business expansion. It is imperative to integrate IP and SDI technology architectures.
The IP solution evolution of TV centers can be divided into three stages:
The first stage is the IP of transport level, i.e. the IP of traffic control flow and compressed coded audio and video.
The second stage is the IP of uncompressed audio and video. That is the IP of the master switch level, and the SDI matrix will be replaced.
The third stageis that whole process TV transmission is uncompressed audio and video over IP like parts of acquisition, production, broadcasting, storage, transmission, distribution. Production and broadcasting process will have big changes.
At present, the first stage has been widely used in existing systems, and the standardization work in the second stage has made in considerable progress. However,it still faces the problems of insufficient link bandwidth, bottleneck of system switching capacity and fewer available devices. SDI over IP technology and products will play a vital role in the development of high definition, ultra-high definition network production and broadcasting in the future integration of new media. In addition, combined with private cloud technology, it will also play a strong role in improving the efficiency of heterogeneous distributed networks and reliability transmission system. SDI over IP is bound to become another major technological evolution in future radio and television systems.
